So Fan Expo was totally amazing. I'm so glad that we were able to go. Me and my friends had a ton of fun. We got to Toronto on Thursday safely after a little mishap in Michigan. Ok seriously, Michigan sucks for driving. We basically made a big circle and ended up exactly where we had been before. But we wasted 2 hours doing that. Stupid multiple highways with the same name. Why can't they pick one name and if it's a different road give it a different name?!? Anyway, we made it, so we were fine. The hostel we stayed at was pretty nice. Thursday night we just walked around the town, made sure we knew where the convention center was, just enjoyed the free time we had.
Friday was the first day of the con. Ran around and had lots of fun. So much to see with the dealers and artists. Huge room, lots of people. Crazy stuff. Mostly we just ran around trying to see everything. Went to some Panels that we wanted to see. Saw the first Star Wars prop making panel which then prompted us to go to the others and led to much hilarity and a strong determination to make amazing Star Wars costumes in the future.
Saturday was the longest day and definitely crazy busy. It was a long day, but definitely fun. Saturday was the day that I ran around in my Raven costume. I was glad that a good number of people did recognize me. Got some confirmation that I did a good job on the costume, which was nice. This one guy even told me I was gorgeous.
he was really nice. It was a ton of fun to run around in my costume. I'm so proud of it. I'll post pictures soon, we got a mini photo shoot of me and also Lucy (
) as Ini Miney from Phoenix Wright. I'll get those up when I can. I know I have a ton to post. I'm working on it I swear! Anyway, before we got to the con we did walk around Toronto some and I definitely got some HILARIOUS looks. I was already in my Raven costume so I was walking the streets like that. The wind even made my cape fly out behind me. It was great. I found that for the most part if I just smiled at the people that stared it wasn't a big deal. I actually found it quite funny. So many odd looks.
Anyway, while at the con we had a full day of panels and other things to attend. I got to see Michael Rosenbaum at the Smallville Q & A session! Ah man I love him. He's so hilarious. He was cracking jokes and making fun of Laura the whole time. It was great. Let's see......we went to a writing panel and man that guy was hilarious too. That panel was right after the Star Wars props journeyman panel (which was totally awesome), and it was conveniently in the same room. So we kept our good seats but man the whole room was full for the writing panel. Matt, an X-Men writer, led an awesome panel though. Gave some good tips, said some absolutely hilarious things. He was great. We went to some other things to but we ran around the dealers room and artist alley area. I saw
in her Tomb Raider costume which was really nice. Oh and I got to meet
. He was really nice and he did some awesome sketches for me. He even did an awesome Bumblebee profile for me, even though Transformers was not his main forte. He looked up pictures for me. Thanks again!
I love the sketches I got. Got some other nice spoils too.
Snagged a Vincent figurine, Wolverine and Mystique busts, Edward Scissorhands figurine (Ah I love him! He's so cute. And one of my favorite movies), the sketches from Ryan, a fashion book, and some comics. Overall not a bad haul. Oh and I ended up getting some free stuff from the Marvel table at one point. Couple of comics and a Stark Industries flash drive. Yay for free things!
Sunday we had a ton more panels we wanted to see and of course the last day of shopping. That's when I snagged most of my items. I wanted to try and wait until Sunday so that I got some things cheaper. Anyway, We went to the Q & A with Sean Astin (ah SAM! He's so cute, the whole time I just wanted to give him a hug). I wish that the session had been longer. Sean just kept talking and talking and if he hadn't had to catch a plane he would have stayed for more. But oh well. It was awesome seeing him for the time we had. Then we went for the Star Wars lightsaber duel. Austin got in on the action and dueled a guy. Ali got her picture with a Storm trooper. haha man he was hilarious. "If you don't have fans, you're gonna have a bad time". He turned around and told us he was watching us, with finger to eye motion and everything. "Don't blast me bro!!!" I think we entertained him. I heard him chuckling as he turned around. Ali then bet Austin $5 that he couldn't get a storm trooper to do the can can with him. Well Ali lost. Best $5 ever spent. Haha. I got a nice video of that one. So great. Oh then we went to the masters prop making panel. Ali's actually going to start making stuff so that she can eventually have her screen accurate storm trooper. I'd love to do it too someday but I may just stick with my dreams of doing some of Leia's and Padme's outfits. Ali is already doing her research and I think she's starting on her blaster this week. SO AWESOME. Someday we will be back to the con and we can tell the 501st that we attended their panels and learned something.
So much more happened. But suffice to say that it was an awesome con. Toronto is an awesome city. And we had a ton of fun! I'd love to go again if possible. All depends on school and cp-op though. But I'll definitely be posting pictures of Raven and Ini Miney soon. Hopefully I'll get another Raven photo shoot before school starts again. I've got some more ideas that I'd love to get photos of.
